The head is still goofing off some days. I guess this will be a long term battle.
Family issues are up in the batter's box, and I'm not sure how that will work out. I'm kinda hoping they just take off the cleats and go home.
I feel like digging a hole and pulling it in after me some days, but that won't do anyone any good. Millions on welfare are depending on me....
I will try and do better on posting my tool woes. I've been working on a project that'll probably go to my grand daughter. Take a peek at the artist's misconception:
She is a baker, and knows her way around the kitchen. I'll post a pic when I'm done. So far I've been making kindling instead of building the thing. Lots of rework due to crossed eyes maybe....

Yep, STxAR, I've got a similar project in the works. MBD wants a desk big enough that she and SIL can work/study together at, but still have space. I've got an L shaped on I'm working on, but the longest span is 7' 8", meaning an 8' board raw. Got some beautiful cedar, but the edges need finishing. Would do it on the table saw, but...last time I took off my shoes to do the cipering, 2 x 8 is 16'. I've got a 15' wood shed. Think I've got it solved with a very straight 2 x 4 clamped circular saw blade guard width from the cut line. The pieces lay together pretty cleanly now, so we'll see how they look after doweling and gluing. Planed the face today, so lots (ok lots and lots and lots) of sawdust in the bed of my truck. Planed the planks on the tailgate.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the kindling thing though. Fortunately, our guest house has a fire pit, so there's always a need for it.

DeleteI feel great usually. But there are..... "ripples" in the head at times. Stress, good conversation, snappy eye movements... All of those will sometimes result in a ripple. I don't have the words to describe it other than it feels like a ripple in the brain pond. Very transient. A really good conversation can eat my reserve battery to zero quite quickly, so I have to be aware of my limits.
I've been using pocket holes for a while, and that is where this project came from. It is quick and easy, but not Taunton Press approved joinery I bet. I got some #1 pine and messed up the crosscuts. So I went back with "hobby" poplar from HD. It is so much more durable and resists knocks well. I'll shoot a pic or two and post them later. First time I've spent real money on lumber core hardwood ply for the top and sides. Measure a lot and cut with fear and trembling.
