The giant plasma table (gravity conservation device) is alive and working. It's pretty cool. I had to order some muffs, though. It's loud! I need some darker shades, too. The plasma is brighter than the oxy shades can handle.
Of course I tried it out! What did I cut???
Gotta start somewhere... |
yeah, yeah, I'm still learning the software. It'll get better over time. Quality pass, with the 100A orifice!! Not too shabby. Letters are 2 inches tall.
Man, this is exciting... I'm hoping to earn a little scratch with this..... time will tell.
This thing zips thru 12 gauge like nothing, cut's 1/4 inch effortlessly, and burns through 1 inch plate like a boss. Too much fun!
Good work, STAR!!!
ReplyDeleteSo what’s going on there? Could that splatter be too much heat? Or maybe the cutter is dragging a bit? What do you suspect?
I have to say I am horribly disappointed in the profanity! You’ve been hanging around that foul mouthed rotter, Phil again! He’s a bad influence on you. You should all make an effort to avoid foul language and try to present yourselves more intelligently… like me!
😇👍
How dare you impugn my good name sir!
DeleteLMFAO!
Wait! Be Friendly To Your Workers.... That isn't what that means??? I was trying to be pc...... Well, for garden seed....
DeleteAs to your technical questions: I was using the full bore, 100 Amp head with well over 100 psi air pressure. I can't adjust the air down due to old, damaged parts (need replacing). So it's blowing and going!!! Once I get it dialed in, it'll cut like a scalpel all the way up to 1.5 inches. That would be, uh, 38,100 Microns eh? um, yeah, English units... um.... 189 X 10^-6 Furlongs. Yeah, or do you still use rods and chains up in the colonies? I'll have to figure that out later..... I'm outta fingers, I need to take my shoes off to count higher....
DeleteHey Phil, where is your blog hiding these days? I've heard you were at Cold Fury, I see a few dead sites... I need to fix the link on my blogroll... I kinda miss the mechanical mayhem...
Delete:)
I updated the reading list. Sorry. I forgot to do that before you asked.

DeleteWhen you get that thing dialed in I want a set of those letters.
ReplyDeleteGet a hold of me and I will buy them from you so I can make a sign for my garage.
Well done my man, very well done.
I'll make you a deal! Thanks for the encouragement....
DeleteYer off to a GREAT start, lad!
ReplyDeleteThanks mate! Come on over anytime. We'll kick open some pickled onions and laff and scratch!
DeleteWe are going to make a welder out of you yet! Too cool! Thanks for sharing buddy.
ReplyDeleteNo sweat! I'm having a hoot just spitballing what this thing can do. It's really a cool tool...
DeleteThat is awesome STxAR! Well done!!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the adulation! You may continue....
DeleteI'm sleepy, ye olde head is starting misfire, methinks.
That is just totally great.
ReplyDeleteI was going to say totally cool, but then I realized that "cool" and "plasma" don't belong together.
To provide a sort of cosmic balance, you should add a water jet cutter to the arsenal.
"I've seen fire and I've seen rain....." :)
Sakes, you are a lyric master! Do you write music? You could be a rich man!
DeleteI want a CO2 laser in the worst way. Water jet sound good too.
Keep warm up there!
Now I'm imagining a sort of turret head mounted on the table where you just switch between cutting operations.
DeleteLike on of the large CNC mills that automatically changes tooling.
I've looked at those laser cutter a number of times.
I may have reached some Zen Master understanding of snow.
It turns out that we only move it around and let it go away on its own schedule.
More thinking on the subject is needed.
