Remember MTV? When it had music? I found something really cool on the UToob.
My kind of music TV. I was listening to this last night and it brought back a ton of memories. And look at the THUDS!!!
Remember California Dreamin by the Mommas and the Poppas?
And another of my favourite aeroplanes.... With an unkown tune. Really cool.
Check out this channel. It's really cool. At least to me. Loads of memories....
Happy Christmas!
STxAR, music has a way to take us back like almost nothing else. When I was working out this week, someone (probably an accident, given what they usually listen to) had songs from the late '70's to early '80's. Hearing the opening notes of Van Halen's "Girl, You Really Got Me" swept me back 40 years or more in an instant to sitting in my best friend's room and the first time I heard it.
ReplyDeleteHave a Merry Christmas!
Music is reason number 6,745 why I believe in God. How vibrations impinging on a membrane, wiggling small bones to excite a nerve can cause me to cry, be happy, sad or nostalgic is a miracle. They can lift me to the Heavenlies as well. How on earth....
DeleteMusic is also a time machine. Your experience is mine as well. When I hear Foreigner's Waiting For a Girl Like You, I am instantly peering east out of the USDA Cotton Research Lab on a gray winter's day at the brown dirt.... Getting ready to start acid delinting cotton samples for planting in a few months. Thinking about the girl I eventually married. It is as if I am really there.
The songs on Cobraonetwelve are like that too...
Happy Christmas. May God richly bless you and yours.
Interesting - can't check it out now, maybe later when I am down in the Reclusium in the new year...
ReplyDeleteErrrr... hope you had a great Christmas, STxAR!!! :)
DeleteWell, this is kind of a year of firsts. I was alone all day. Coughing my lungs inside out. So tired I couldn't stand up much. It was a rough one. Kids didn't call or write.
DeleteI had fond memories of being a kid, and having kids, and memories of my people that are gone on now. So it was a bit of "down memory lane" day.
I did get a present, a leg lamp that shakes in the sunlight. That was pretty cool! Not quite a hula girl, but I'll take it!
Keep warm up there! And don't glue yourself to anything except the missus...
Yeah, I am in the same boat. In my case I prefer to be ignored and left alone by those folks.
DeleteHow about today? Any plans for New Years at all?
Nope, just the normals. My dad would have been 88 tomorrow. So, I will lift a glass of milk to his memory. Thank God for him, and that he taught me the evils of being a bitter man, of smoking and having the right tools to do the job. Unfortunately, it will be because he was a bitter old man, smoked like a chimney and never had the right tools. But I learned anyway.
DeleteHe taught me a LOT. We did more work than most contractors every year. The only thing I don't know if I can do is.... I'll have to think on that.
Merry New Year Glen!
